NHL All-Star Game Fantasy Draft results highlights of the night

The NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft has only been around for the last three All-Star Games, but 2015 may have been the most fun yet. From NHL players showing actual personality (shocking, I know), to some surprise picks throughout the draft and a rather hilarious trade made for some great moments. The draft also did a nice job of setting the stage for what should be a pretty fun All-Star Weekend in Columbus. Here's a look at the highlights as well as the results.Who Went First? won the puck flip to pick first and surprised absolutely no one when he picked teammate with the first overall pick. That's when Jonathan Toews stepped up and produced the evening's first surprise when he picked sniper Phil Ke sel. When asked why he picked Ke sel, Toews quipped that he knew the Maple Leafs winger was "one of the most coachable players out there" for an early candidate for One-Liner of the Night. (via )Ke sel's position on Team Toews was short-lived however. More on that below.Who Went Last? This year came with a twist. Previously unnannounced, the last selection in the draft was selected by fans during a live vote on Twitter. It came down to rookie and center . The fans were instructed to pick the player that was the "best fit" for Foligno's team, which is a nice way of saying, which guy do you think should be the last pick? The honor (or dishonor?) went to Nugent-Hopkins. Both he and Forsberg received new Honda Accords for being good sports. It unfortunately was not nearly as fun as Ke sel's uncomfortable draft year. So, with a sense of humor, both captains decided to trade Phil Ke sel from Team Toews to Team Foligno for Tyler Seguin because "it's worked out for both teams before." More from that below.*** was not replaced by anyone despite mi sing the game due to injury, so Team Toews will play a player short.Highlights of the draft: Alex Ovechkin actually was lobbying to be the last pick in the draft. His Darius Bazley Jersey claim, a need for the car."I need a car so bad." - Alexander Ovechkin NHL on NBC (@NHLonNBCSports) One of the downsides of being the first pick for your team is that you end up right where the camera is going to be after every jersey presentation. And then this happened to Phil Ke sel (via @TheMouthLAKings) Brent Burns on whether or not he would have traded in a car for some new teeth had he been picked last: "The beard and teeth help to keep the wife at bay a little bit." Shout out to Mrs. Burns. Nick Foligno had the pleasure of announcing the trade between two teams and channeled his inner-Gary Bettman with "We have a trade to announce" before dealing Seguin for Ke sel. Seguin quipped: "You never expect to be traded." Alex Ovechkin's feigned disappointment after not going last and refusing to come out was fun. I'm sure Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Filip Forsberg were pleased with his lobbying to be last to spare the youngsters from that. The All-Star Game may be losing its luster, but the Fantasy Draft was a lot more fun than the previous two and served its purpose as well as it ever has. Now it's on to the All-Star Skills Competition Saturday and All-Star Game Sunday. The teams are set.
